Skating at Stockeld Park

Every year from October half term to mid January, Stockeld Park opens its huge open air artificial ice rink.

The skating rink at Stockeld Park is positioned in front of the Woodland Cafe, where parents can relax in the warmth and enjoy a delicious meal or snack, while watching their children have fun on the rink. (Children under 8 must be accompanied on the rink by an adult - Skating is unsuitable for children under 4).

The perfect place for beginners, providing an authentic ice skating experience, which is rather more forgiving than real ice if you fall. Don't worry, a friendly team of skate marshals are always on hand to help with any difficulties! The rink is also great fun for more able skaters, who can really pick up speed! Constructed using the latest technology, the eco-rink at Stockeld Park uses no energy at all, other than the energy you exert! Unless you live in Siberia, real ice rinks require huge amounts of energy to create the ice.

Wrap up warm
It is essential that you wrap up warm on the rink. We advise all skaters to wear warm layered clothing and if possible a waterproof jacket. Gloves and thick socks are also advisable. Gloves are available to hire for 50p.

How long do you get?
Each skating session lasts one hour, and skates are included in the price.

Skates
Our Italian designed Roces skates are provided as part of the hire charge. The skates are a ski boot style with quick fastening buckles as opposed to the traditional lace up skates, with children's sizes being adjustable.Sizes range from child Size 8 to adult Size 13

Supervision
Please note: No children under 4 years old may skate. Children between 4 and 8 years old must be accompanied on the rink by an adult.
