Stockeld Park School Competition Winner

Above 2008 school competition winner, Tom Steven's of Wetherby High.

In 2008, winning designs by Holly Roberts and Tom Stevens were brought to life by Stockeld Park's team of creative artists. Now, Tom's giant troll and Holly's Merlin wizard stand triumphantly in the Enchanted Wood for everyone to see. Part of their prize was a free class visit to the Enchanted Wood.

Susie Grant is responsible for the magic that can be found in the Enchanted Wood. With a carefully chosen team of craftsmen and lighting specialists, Susie has been able to turn the 1.2km woodland trail into one of the most memorable and unique experiences in Yorkshire.

Susie is delighted to involve local school children in her inspirational project. “We have been overwhelmed by the brilliant entries we have received over the past two years. Children have fabulous imaginations and the 'Design a Sculpture competition' gives them a chance to really stretch their creative talents.”

The winning design for 2009 will be announced and unveiled at this years grand opening. Susie and Peter Grant, the owners of Stockeld Park, hope that the competition will get more and more popular each year and have extended their prize to include a £500 donation to the school art department of the winning pupil.

Although you will have to wait until October to find out this years winner, a special well done goes to Green Hammerton School and Coppice Valley Primary School, who sent in a high standard of imaginative entries.
